Is massage during pregnancy dangerous?

Massage is usually not recommended during the first 13 weeks (first trimester), but after this, it can be very pleasant with a massage - in the right places. Certain techniques and trigger points in the body can cause contractions and early labor, so it is important to find an experienced massage therapist.

However, many doctors (including obstetricians) are saying as long as a woman is fit and healthy, there is nothing to suggest that massage during the first trimester is harmful.
